UPDATE: One dead, one injured in Savannah shooting on Carter Street

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 1/17/26 10:53 a.m.] One man is dead and another injured following a shooting Friday night in the 800 block of Carter Street, according to the Savannah Police Department.

Police responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Officers found two men at the scene.

One man was transported to the hospital. The other man died from his injuries at the scene.

The incident appears to have resulted from an altercation between the two men, police said. Both weapons used in the shooting were recovered by officers.
