UPDATE: 1 dead, 2 injured after shooting in Hampton Co.

HAMPTON COUNTY, SC. (WTOC) - {1/4/26 12:15 p.m. UPDATE} One person is dead and two others injured after a shooting in Hampton County Sunday morning.

The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) are on scene as the investigation continues.

SLED tells WTOC that they were requested by the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office to investigate this incident.

The two people injured in the shooting were taken to the hospital for treatment.

No other details have been released.

Officials say deputies responded to a reported shooting incident on Laston Street in the Gifford area Sunday morning. There is a large law enforcement presence in the area.
