Two injured in shooting at Capital Grocery in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [Update as of 6:27 p.m.] Savannah Police Department (SPD) responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of Capital St.

Officers said upon arrival they found two adult male victims. Both were transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Police say anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers 912-234-2020 or use the SPD mobile app.

Police are investigating a shooting at Capital Grocery in East Savannah, officials tell WTOC.

WTOC has a team in the area and has seen roughly 15 officers and officials from multiple agencies at and around the area. At least eight Savannah Police Department cars, one public schools police car, and one emergency medical services vehicle were at the scene.

A large area in front of the store has been taped off as a crime scene. Two backpacks were visible on the ground outside the store, and a silver minivan was inside the cordoned area.

A forensics unit was also at the location investigating the incident. No visible damage to buildings or the vehicle was apparent at the scene.

Police have not released details about the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or if any arrests have been made. Officers at the scene declined to provide additional information, saying a public information officer will make a statement soon.
