Two defendants indicted in connection with fatal October 2025 Statesboro shooting
STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - A Bulloch County Grand Jury returned true bills of indictment against Timothy Ward and Khalir Nickens in connection with a shooting that occurred at a commercial parking lot on Lanier Drive in Statesboro, resulting in the death of Deontre Mincey.

The indictments stem from an investigation into the incident. Each defendant was indicted on identical felony charges related to the incident.
Police say at 1:01 a.m. on Oct. 25, 2025, police say shots were fired in the parking lot of 200 Lanier Drive, a commercial strip containing Cowboy’s Bar and a Smoke Crave location.
Upon arrival, Statesboro Police Department officers discovered 30-year-old Deontre Mincey who had died from a gunshot wound.
Timothy Ward was indicted on the following charges:
- Felony Murder
- Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony (Murder)
- Four (4) counts of Aggravated Assault
- Five (5) counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Khalir Nickens was indicted on the following charges:
- Felony Murder
- Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony (Murder)
- Four (4) counts of Aggravated Assault
- Five (5) counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
The case will now proceed through the Superior Court process.
