Two defendants in 2024 Montgomery Crossroads murder case set for pre-trial hearing

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Two out of the three defendants charged in connection with a February 2024 armed robbery, turned shooting, are scheduled to appear in court Monday for a pre-trial hearing.

That alleged armed robbery last year left 20-year-old Anthony McBride dead.

Jaleeyah Breeya Tyneiah Bryant, 23, and Rashod Janard Karon Hamilton, 20, are set to go before Judge Colbert in Chatham County Superior Court Monday morning.

The case stems from a shooting on February 13, 2024 around 1 p.m. This happened at the Woodlands Apartments on Montgomery Crossroads.

Investigators say McBride was killed during an attempted armed robbery, and another person was also wounded.

A grand jury indicted Bryant and Hamilton in May 2024 on charges including felony murder, criminal attempt to commit a felony, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Hamilton was arrested the day of the shooting, while Bryant was taken into custody a week after the shooting.

Hamilton was denied bond last summer because he was on probation for a 2018 aggravated assault conviction, along with theft by receiving and felony fleeing charges. He filed a new bond motion last month.

Bryant was granted bond two months after her arrest and entered a not guilty plea in August of 2024.

The state opposed granting her bond, but Judge Harris Odell Jr. gave Bryant a $15,000 bond. She’s not allowed to commit any crimes, can’t carry a firearm, is banned from the Woodland and Magnolia Apartments, and cannot contact the victim’s or her co-defendants’ families.

The upcoming hearings come weeks after a third suspect, 19-year-old Zaire Jamarion Garner, was arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault, and armed robbery in connection with McBride’s death also. Garner remains in custody without bond.
