Two dead after fatal head-on collision on Sea Island Parkway, one teen hospitalized
LADY’S ISLAND, S.C. (WTOC) - Two people died and a teenager was critically injured in a head-on collision that caused one vehicle to catch fire Sunday night, January 18, 2026.
The crash happened at 10:49 p.m. at Sea Island Parkway and Eustis Landing Road, according to officials. The Lady’s Island St. Helena Fire District says a Honda and Subaru collided head-on, causing the Subaru to burst into flames.
A 54-year-old man driving the Subaru and a 17-year-old girl in the Honda died at the scene. A 17-year-old boy in the Honda was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The Lady’s Island St. Helena Fire District responded to the crash. Emergency crews worked at the scene for several hours while investigators examined the wreckage.
Law enforcement closed Sea Island Parkway in both directions during the response and investigation. The highway reopened after crews cleared the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by law enforcement.
