Two arrested in Long County construction site burglary ring
LONG COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Two men face charges after an investigation into thefts at new home construction sites in Long County.
Long County deputies arrested Samuel Youmans of Hinesville and Twain Newton of Savannah after a citizen reported burglaries in progress. Deputies served search warrants in Bryan and Liberty counties with assistance from both sheriff’s offices.
The investigation recovered over $30,000 worth of stolen property and revealed an organized criminal operation, according to a statement from the Long County Sheriff’s Office.
Youmans faces two counts of theft by taking, burglary in the second degree, criminal damage to property and violation of the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
Newton faces charges of burglary in the second degree, criminal damage to property and violation of the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
The investigation is ongoing. The sheriff’s office said several more individuals were identified as part of the criminal organization.
