Two arrested after overnight shooting in Pooler
POOLER, Ga. (WTOC) - Two suspects are in custody after a shooting early Thursday morning that damaged a home with five children inside.
The family of the house that was targeted said one of the children, a 3-year-old, was sitting near a window when the shots rang out. The family did not want to be identified or go on camera. They confirmed no one was hurt, but the home is noticeably damaged.
Pooler Police said the public is not in danger. They called this an isolated incident, but said a third suspect is still at large. They said they know who that person is and are working to locate them.
Pooler police have been patrolling the area throughout the day. Neighbors have been concerned about multiple incidents in the area, but Pooler police confirmed there was only one shooting. Extra patrols are part of the ongoing search for the third suspect.
Neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots around 2:30 a.m., prompting the large response. Officers recovered guns at the scene when they arrested the two suspects.
Some residents said the gunfire is not new to this neighborhood.
“It sounds just like a pop. It doesn’t sound like a firework. And I’m hearing them on the street behind us and I’m hearing them that way towards the trailer park,” said Stephanie Minyard, a Pooler resident.
The investigation is ongoing.
