Truck crashes into Oglethorpe Mall parking lot; Police urge drivers to slow down

by Christa Ross

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A driver is expected to be okay after a truck left Abercorn Road and crashed into the Oglethorpe Mall parking lot Saturday, according to the Savannah Police Department.

Police say officers made contact with the vehicle after it went down an embankment and entered the parking lot at a high rate of speed.

The driver was evaluated at the scene. Officers say the driver is okay and has non-life-threatening injuries.

One of the officers who responded said he’s concerned about the potential for more crashes as conditions worsen throughout the night.

He encouraged drivers to slow down, stay alert, and be cautious on the roads as officers continue responding to similar incidents.

Stick with WTOC as we continue to track the snow.
