Traffic alert: Downtown Beaufort intersection to close for weekend construction

BEAUFORT, Sc. (WTOC) -Drivers in downtown Beaufort should plan for a temporary intersection closure later this month.

The City of Beaufort says the Carteret Street and King Street intersection will close Friday, April 24 at 3 p.m. and reopen Monday, April 27 at 5 a.m. as part of the King Street Drainage Improvement Project.

Officials say the work includes stormwater, water and sewer upgrades. Detours will be posted, and drivers are urged to follow traffic control directions and use caution in the work zone. The city says the closure is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements.
