Teen shot and killed during argument with brother in Liberty County, deputies say
HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting involving two brothers.
A 16-year-old was allegedly shot and killed during an argument with his brother at a home in Liberty County, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a shots-fired call at West Oglethorpe Highway after a report that someone had been shot, Major Joshua Heath said. When deputies arrived, they found the victim inside the home.
Heath said the suspect was located outside near the wood line and was taken into custody. Investigators believe the shooting happened after two brothers got into an argument.
“It was two brothers that had been engaged in an argument, unknown what the argument was over at this time,” Heath said on scene.
As a result of the argument, Heath said, one brother shot the other.
The suspect — believed to be in his upper 20s — was taken to the Liberty County Jail, where he is awaiting questioning. Deputies have not released the names of those involved, and no charges were immediately announced.
