Teen charged with murder in Hampton County shooting death
HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting on Grant Hill Road in the Scotia area of Hampton County on February 21, 2026.
Deputies from the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting at a residence, where they discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Geordi Pringle, 31, of Hardeeville, South Carolina. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hampton County Coroner’s Office.
Amir Terrion Singleton, 17, of Garnett, South Carolina, later arrived at the scene and turned himself in to deputies without incident. He has been charged with:
- Murder
- Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime
Singleton was transported to the Hampton County Detention Center. A hearing was held on the morning of February 23, 2026, where no bond was given.
Sheriff Anthony Russell released a statement regarding the incident: “This is a tragic situation that has affected multiple families and our community. We are committed to conducting a thorough and complete investigation. I want to thank all agencies who provided assistance.”
The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office extended its “deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic incident.”
The investigation remains active and ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
