Suspect taken into custody after shooting that injured police officer

BARNWELL, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A woman the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) says hurt an officer has been taken into custody.

According to the Blue Alert, Lacey Cushman, 37, was wanted in connection to a shooting that injured a Springfield police officer.

The location of the assault was Gardenia Road in Blackville, S.C.

SLED announced Cushman was taken into custody at 11:56 p.m. Monday night.

At around 10:35 p.m., officials said they were looking for Cushman, a white woman who is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

SLED issues Blue Alert for armed, dangerous woman in Barnwell County

According to SLED, she has brown eyes and an unknown hair color. Her hairstyle and clothing are unknown.

She was last seen driving a 2011 white Chevrolet Traverse with an S.C. tag, 706IRU, in Barnwell County.

Her last known direction of travel was toward Bamberg County.

This was not the first South Carolina shooting involving an officer on Monday. In Anderson County, a suspect was killed after shooting a deputy during a traffic stop on I-85 on Monday.
