Suspect in custody after Shady Grove community residents urged to shelter in place
CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE as of 5:59 p.m.] Savannah Police said a suspect has been taken into custody.
Community Alert: Residents living near Shady Grove Ct. and Canebrake Rd. should shelter in place due to a barricaded individual. Drivers should avoid the area as well.

[UPDATE as of 5:41 p.m.] The Savannah Police Department shared a community alert.
“Residents living near Shady Grove Ct. and Canebrake Rd. should shelter in place due to a barricaded individual. Drivers should avoid the area as well,” wrote SPD on social media.

Chatham County Sheriff Richard Coleman is urging Shady Grove residents to stay inside.
“Stay in your house,” urged Sheriff Coleman.

Law enforcement is out near Canebrake Road where the sheriff’s office confirmed there is a shooting, they told us a person is barricaded inside right now.
“We have an emergency right now,” the sheriff said in a social media live.
