Suspect arrested in deadly Savannah shooting on Victory Drive

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -[UPDATE 4/4 10:05 a.m.] The Savannah Police Department arrested 19-year-old Jakobie Johnson in connection with Friday’s deadly shooting in the 1800 block of Victory Drive.

Officers responded around 5 p.m. on reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police discovered the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were taken but the victim ultimately died at the scene.

Johnson was identified as a suspect and taken into custody near the scene. He has been charged with murder and aggravated assault.

[ORIGINAL STORY] One man is dead after a shooting in the 1800 block of E. Victory Drive.

Savannah Police confirmed they responded to the 1800 block of E. Victory Dr. after hearing gunshots. Police said one man died on the scene.

The victim was later identified by the Chatham County coroner’s office as 21-year-old Nejeh Williams.

Officers have detained a person of interest and said they recovered a firearm.
