Strangebird reopens after year-long shutdown
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Strangebird is officially back open in Savannah. The restaurant reopened after a fire shut it down for more than a year.
The restaurant is on the corner of West Henry and Barnard Streets, just south of Forsyth Park.
They had a soft launch Monday, but were welcoming customers back into the rebuilt space today for their grand opening.
Management says the community support never stopped, with regular pop- ups and plenty of people asking when the restaurant would return.
“Its been incredible, we’ve been full since we opened an hour ago. So its been really really great to see,” said Opie Crooks, culinary director for Farm Hospitality Group. “Excited to see old and new friends back in this space again. Everyday people were always like when Stragebird reopening, when are you guys coming back? We’re just super excited to be back, back in this space again, ready to cook delicious food for Savannah.“
Crooks says the team is thankful for the support and is ready to get back to serving the community— starting with a packed dining room on day one.
