Statesboro cleanup event invites community to remove litter ahead of July 4 milestone
STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - Community members in Statesboro are invited to roll up their sleeves and help clean up the city this weekend.
Keep Statesboro-Bulloch Beautiful is hosting the Greatest American Cleanup on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to noon, bringing volunteers together to remove litter from public spaces across the area.
The event is part of the nationwide Great American Cleanup, an initiative focused on creating cleaner, more beautiful communities through volunteer efforts.
Organizers say this year’s cleanup also supports a national goal to remove billions of pieces of litter from parks, waterways, and public spaces ahead of America’s 250th birthday in 2026.
Volunteers can pre-register online or sign in the day of the event at Statesboro City Hall on East Main Street, where participants will receive supplies and cleanup assignments.
The event is free and open to individuals, families, and community groups, with all necessary equipment provided.
Organizers say the cleanup is not only about improving the environment, but also about bringing the community together and encouraging pride in local spaces.
