St. Joseph’s/Candler welcomes first Savannah baby of 2026
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah welcomed its first baby of the year on New Year’s day.
Jordan and Jeremy Tuten, welcomed their second child, Jett Ryder, into the world at 12:16 a.m. at the Telfair BirthPlace at Candler Hospital.
Jett is the first Savannah-born baby of the new year, though his parents are residents of Ridgeland, South Carolina.
The Tutens made the hour-long drive to the Telfair BirthPlace on New Year’s Eve as a precaution after Jordan thought she was dehydrated.
Since Jett’s due date was not until Jan. 19, the family did not expect to be holding him in their arms Thursday.
Soon after they arrived last night, Jordan was admitted. She said she was only in labor for about nine minutes before Jett made his grand entrance.
He was born 18” long and 7 lbs. 12 oz. (which happens to be the exact same weight his big brother was when he was born).
In addition to the whole family sporting “J” names, dad and the two boys also share the same initials JRT.
