Some Chatham County voters may receive two absentee ballots after mail delays, officials say
CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Some voters in Chatham County who requested absentee ballots may end up with more than one, according to the Chatham County Board of Registrars.
In a press release WTOC just received, the Board announced that the Voter Registration Office has been made aware that some people have not yet obtained their absentee ballots, despite them having been mailed out on October 15, 2025.
“These ballots were mailed by the third-party printing vendor and entered into the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) system on that date,” the release states.
“Our office is actively working with the U.S. Postal Service to ensure the delivery of the affected ballots,” it continues. “To ensure that every voter receives a ballot in a timely manner, a second ballot was mailed to all affected voters on October 22, 2025.”
Because there are still Chatham County absentee ballots presumably in the mail yet to be delivered, the release then offers the following warning:
“Our office takes this opportunity to emphasize that the State of Georgia ballot tracking system only allows one vote to be cast for each voter, so any voters who receive more than one ballot should only complete and return one ballot.”
For questions or to confirm your ballot status, you can contact the Chatham County Voter Registration Office at 912-790-1520 or email voter@chathamcounty.org.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure that every voter has the opportunity to cast their ballot securely and on time,” the release ends.
