BLUFFTON, S.C. (WTOC) - The Bluffton Police Department is actively investigating a series of incidents that have occurred at a residence in the Heritage New Riverside Neighborhood along Horizon Trail, between Camelback Road and Freedom Drive. The incidents have escalated over the past week, culminating in a shooting that resulted in a non-life-threatening injury.

The troubling sequence of events began on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at approximately 7:40 PM, when two unknown suspects approached the residence before fleeing into nearby woods. This initial incident set off a pattern of concerning activity at the location.

Just three days later, on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, the residence was targeted twice in a single evening. At approximately 9:55 PM, two unknown suspects approached the home and fled into the woods. Later that same night, at around 11:50 PM, two additional suspects broke into the back yard fence before escaping when the resident confronted them.

The incidents continued the following day. On Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at approximately 8:25 PM, two unknown suspects attempted to gain entry to the residence but fled toward the woods behind Horizon Trail before officers could arrive. Police noted that at approximately 10:50 PM that same evening, the suspects may have been spotted in the woods again.

Escalation to Violence

The situation escalated dramatically on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, when shots were fired at the residence at approximately 7:40 PM. An unknown suspect discharged a firearm in the direction of the home, resulting in a non-life-threatening injury to an individual. The suspect fled in an unknown direction before law enforcement arrived at the scene.

Investigators have described the unknown individuals involved in the incidents as slim-built young males wearing dark clothing and masks.

After fleeing, the suspects were observed traveling in two directions: north toward the Okatie Highway bridge and parking area at the end of Tanner Run, or south toward the cul-de-sac at the end of Spirit Way.
