Serial stalker with violent history arrested in Chatham County

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A 24-year-old Savannah man has been arrested on charges of attempted kidnapping, stalking, and criminal trespass in what authorities are calling a stranger-on-stranger incident.

The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit arrested Nathaniel Crawford Tuesday evening, January 27, 2026. Officials say the case is not domestic-related and involves multiple victims.

Authorities believe Crawford is a serial stalker whose behavior had been escalating and posed a significant public safety threat. The investigation remains ongoing as deputies work to identify additional victims.

Crawford has a violent criminal history, including three prior aggravated assault convictions. He was released from Coastal State Prison in 2024.

The sheriff’s office is urging women in the community to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings following Crawford’s arrest.

The charges against Crawford include criminal attempt at kidnapping, stalking, and criminal trespass. Deputies have not released details about the specific incidents that led to his arrest.

Crawford is scheduled for arraignment at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in Judge Harmon’s courtroom at the Montgomery Street courthouse, where initial case details will be presented.
