Second suspect arrested in connection with Pooler gas station beating, CCSO says
POOLER, Ga. (WTOC) - A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a brutal beating outside a gas station in Pooler from two years ago, according to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.
Ronnie Scott Jr. was taken into custody Tuesday morning following a multi-agency investigation involving the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit, K-9 units and the Rincon Police Department.
According to the CCSO, investigators placed Scott Jr. under surveillance beginning Friday, February 20. Deputies located him at an apartment in Rincon early Tuesday morning with assistance from the department’s K-9 unit and Rincon Police.
Scott Jr. faces charges of aggravated assault. The Sheriff’s Office credited community support as instrumental in making the arrest possible.
“The investigation revealed that he was one of the individuals actually doing the beating in the incident,” said Richard Coleman, Chatham County Sheriff, in a statement.

The incident occurred in 2024, when authorities say three men attacked a victim outside the gas station. Investigators have identified Scott Jr. as one of the assailants involved in the attack.
Just last week, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office arrested Motreon Lajuan Williams, who investigators say organized the beating.

Scott Jr. faces charges of aggravated assault. The Sheriff’s Office credited community support as instrumental in making the arrest possible.
“We have to realize that someone was a victim there. Someone had to endure that beating. And so, we want justice. We want justice for that victim. We want justice for his family. We want justice for the community as a whole,” Coleman said.
The 2024 incident gained renewed attention in February after Sheriff Coleman posted video of the incident on Facebook. He said the public response to that video played a key role in identifying and locating the suspects.
“They were disturbed by the video, obviously, for good reason. And that’s how it was brought to the light,” Coleman said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
