UVALDA, Ga. (WTOC) - The Toombs County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect accused of committing a violent home invasion against an elderly woman.

Deputies say the incident happened Tuesday at a home off Currie Road, a remote area along a dirt road.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, an elderly woman called 911 and reported that an unknown man broke into her home looking for drugs and assaulted her with a weapon. The attacker then fled through the back door.

The suspect is described as a white man with blond, disheveled hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans.

The victim received medical attention, and a family member said she is expected to recover.

A neighbor who lives near the scene said an elderly couple resides in the home and generally keeps to themselves.

Law enforcement will continue increased patrols in the area as the investigation continues. Deputies are urging residents to keep their homes, vehicles and outbuildings locked and to remove keys from all vehicles.
