Savannah student earns prestigious Georgia Youth Leadership Award

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Savannah high school student is receiving statewide recognition for leadership and community impact.

Leilanie Singleton, a junior at Woodville-Tompkins Technical & Career High School, has been named one of 21 students in Georgia to receive the 2026 Georgia Youth Leadership Award for Emerging Leaders from 21st Century Leaders.

Singleton was selected from hundreds of students across the state and will receive mentorship from community leaders as part of the program.

She has led cultural exploration and community-building programs serving more than 100 students annually and advocates for youth mental health through Silence the Shame.

Singleton will be honored at the “Be the Inspiration Gala” on March 21 at Zoo Atlanta, where each student will receive a $500 grant.
