Savannah bars prepare for St. Patrick’s Day crowds
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -Downtown Savannah businesses are making final preparations for St. Patrick’s Day, with some expecting celebrations to stretch across five days or more.
Wexford Irish Pub, now in its second year at City Market, said staff are working to ensure everything is in place ahead of the holiday crowds. Manager Roman Sabol said one of the bar’s largest Guinness orders arrived this week.
“One of the largest Guinness orders that we ever get actually just came in today,” Sabol said.
With St. Patrick’s Day falling on a Tuesday this year, Sabol said the bar is planning for an extended run of business.
“We’re looking at probably about a five-day push with everything from Friday all the way up until Tuesday and then the spillover from Wednesday to even possibly the weekend afterwards, too,” Sabol said.
Staff said they hope Wexford becomes a St. Patrick’s Day tradition for visitors to the city.
Other businesses around City Market spent Tuesday preparing for the influx of visitors. At Boomy’s Bar, bartender Chris Hinely said large supply orders have already arrived.
“We’ve got big trailers outside full of beer, full of liquor. We’ve got huge orders that just came in right now,” Hinely said.
Hinely also had a message for those planning to celebrate.
“Just, you know, be kind,” Hinely said.
For these bars, the prep work is almost done. The real test starts Friday.
