Savannah Police make second arrest in fatal W. Gwinnett St. shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Police Department has arrested a second person in connection with a shooting in the 600 block of W. Gwinnett St. that left one man dead.

19-year-old Shaheem Coleman was taken into custody on Jan. 8.

This is the second arrest regarding this incident. SPD arrested 36-year-old John Coleman on Dec. 31.

Officers say the arrest is in reference to a shooting they responded to on Dec. 28, 2025, around 6 p.m.

Upon arrival, an adult male was found outside a residence, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Life-saving measures were rendered immediately, but he died due to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.

Shaheem and John Coleman are both charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The investigation is ongoing.
