Savannah Police make arrest in fatal Echols Avenue shooting
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [Update as of 4/9/26 at 4:29 p.m.] – The Savannah Police Department arrested Maalik Frazier, 26, in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on March 1 in the 10 block of Echols Ave.
Frazier was taken into custody on Thursday, April 9 by the Savannah Police, SPD Strategic Investigations Unit, and U.S. Marshals.
On March 1, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area at approximately 12:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the victim, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by EMS to Memorial Health University Medical Center, where he died due to his injuries.
Initial investigation and witness interviews identified the suspect vehicle. After working through the night, detectives identified Maalik Frazier as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.
Frazier was apprehended on April 9 in the area of Wheaton St. and Waters Ave. He has been charged with the following:
- felony murder
- three counts of aggravated assault
- possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
