SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Police Department held a special pinning ceremony Friday afternoon at the Savannah Civic Center Ballroom.

City leaders and police administrators recognized officers as they formally received their badges in front of family and friends.

The ceremony marked a milestone for the officers, highlighting their commitment to serve and protect the community.

Police leaders also thanked the officers’ families for their support and welcomed the newly pinned members into the department.

“I’m excited for our new officers. I’m very proud of what they achieved during the last couple of months. Very hard training, and a very dedicated sacrifice, and made it to the stage to walk across the stage,” said SPD Chief Lenny Gunther.

Congratulations to the 26 new officers who were sworn in Friday afternoon, as well as the officers who received promotions.
