SSU students receive special White-Williams scholarship
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah State University rewarded two students with a very special scholarship Friday afternoon.
Barbara White-Williams was a criminal justice graduate from SSU whose life was tragically cut short due to domestic violence.
Her family has since built a memorial scholarship in her name, giving back to the highest academic-average male and female in the criminal justice department during domestic violence awareness month.
“We just want to continue to keep it moving, keep it going,” said Sean White, Domestic violence organizer. “It’s a legacy that we’re standing on her shoulders, even after 35 years of her demise, that we’re keeping her dream alive. Educating students past, present and future.”
Congratulations to this years’ recipients, Layla Ballard and Jar-quez Johnson.
