SCCPSS to honor top educators at inaugural Excellence in Education Gala
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools will honor its top educators during the inaugural Excellence in Education Gala on Friday, Feb. 27.
The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Marriott Savannah Riverfront, located at 100 General McIntosh Blvd.
Teachers and instructional support personnel from 56 SCCPSS schools and programs will be recognized, with one of five finalists in each category named the 2027 district teacher of the year and instructional support person of the year, while three finalists, one from each grade level band, compete for 2027 principal of the year.
The 2027 teacher of the year and instructional support person of the year will lead the superintendent’s professional senate during the 2026-27 school year, with the teacher of the year also advancing to represent the district in the Georgia Teacher of the Year program, as finalists are recognized and districtwide winners announced during the evening gala.
District leaders say the gala highlights excellence in education and celebrates the educators serving Savannah-Chatham students.
