SCCPSS reminds parents to dress students warmly in extreme cold
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - In a message emailed to parents today, January 27, 2026, the Savannah-Chatham County School System reminds parents to send their children to school dressed appropriately for the cold.
“The health and safety of our students and staff is our highest priority,” SCCPSS says. “Extreme cold can be dangerous if students aren’t prepared for it.”
Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools say they are prepared for colder weather and have taken several steps to ensure it meets the needs of our students and staff, including:
- Having transportation teams run buses ahead of time to confirm they start and operate properly in low temperatures to help ensure safe transportation.
- Maintenance teams are monitoring building temperatures and checking heating systems to ensure warm facilities.
"We hope our families are staying safe and warm," SCCPSS writes. “And thank you for your support of Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools.”
