SCCPSS gives update on plumbing issue at Jenkins High School

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Jenkins High School and The Learning Academy at Jenkins High School will be dismissed early on Tuesday due to a plumbing issue that has made the bathrooms inoperable.

[UPDATE 5:15 p.m. 10/21/2025] The SCCPSS Facilities Team, in coordination with the City of Savannah, has addressed the immediate issues impacting facility operations at Jenkins High School, according to a media release WTOC just received.

“We are pleased to share that the plumbing issue affecting the school has been addressed and bathrooms are operational,” SCCPSS writes. “Maintenance staff continue to monitor plumbing systems and will continue to take steps to ensure functionality.”

Jenkins High School will operate on a normal schedule on Wednesday, October 22.

SCCPSS says students and staff of Jenkins High School and The Learning Academy at Jenkins should report at their regular times.

[ORIGINAL STORY] The Savannah Chatham County Public School System says the dismissal will happen at 11:30 a.m.

The school system says maintenance crews are onsite trying to identify the problem.

School lunches will be provides to students in a grab and go format.

Walkers and car riders will be released as normal. Buses will run their regular routes and stops for bus riders.

The school system says they will provide updates as more information becomes available.
