SCAM ALERT: New email scam hits the lowcountry
JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office wants to alert residents of a new scam circulating the area.
The scam involves being sent a fraudulent invoice from Jasper County, which asks locals to pay exorbitant amounts of money.
“We have been made aware that several people have received invoices similar to the ones below,” Jasper County officials wrote in a social media post.

“The Jasper County Planning & Zoning Department does not email invoices,” the county said. “Additionally, we will never request a wire transfer for payment.”
If you are ever unsure of the legitimacy of an invoice, do NOT send money until you have confirmed it to be accurate.
