SCAD hosts 45th annual Sidewalk Arts Festival
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A popular Savannah tradition returned this weekend, bringing colors and creativity to one of the city’s most iconic spots.
The SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival is back for its 45th year, taking over Forsyth Park Saturday.
Hundreds of students from Savannah College pf Arts and Design, along with alumni and local high school artists, transformed the park into a vibrant outdoor gallery.
More than 800 squares of sidewalk will become colorful chalk canvases, featuring everything from detailed illustration to larger-than-life designs.
“I’ve been part of this event for almost all the 45 years taking shape, and what I really enjoy about it is seeing my neighbors, my coworkers, our students, visitors all coming together in the park today to just appreciate creativity and innovation,” said Darrell Maylor Johnson, Vice President for Community Engagement for SCAD.
Organizers say it’s a chance for the community to experience art in a unique and interactive way, while supporting the next generation of creatives.
