Richmond Hill suspends police chief search, continues evaluation of interim leader
BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Richmond Hill has announced an update regarding the leadership of the Richmond Hill Police Department, confirming that its external search for a new Police Chief has been suspended.
City officials stated that Cary Hill will continue serving as Interim Police Chief while he is formally evaluated for the permanent position in the coming months.
The city says since stepping into the interim role, Hill has demonstrated strong leadership and ensured operational stability within the department. They also say that his performance during this period has been a key factor in the City’s decision to shift its focus toward an internal evaluation rather than continuing a broader external search.
Leadership noted that this approach allows the City to build on the consistency already established within the department while carefully assessing Chief Hill’s qualifications for the long-term role.
The City of Richmond Hill expressed appreciation for Interim Chief Hill’s service, thanking him for his ongoing leadership and commitment to the community.
