Purr-fect ending: Bluffton firefighters save kitten trapped under car

BLUFFTON, S.C. (WTOC) - A kitten is recovering at an animal shelter after being trapped under a car earlier this week on Bluffton Parkway.

According to a social media post, a Bluffton resident and his son were driving when the kitten darted across the road. The driver pulled over to check on the animal but couldn’t find it. As they prepared to leave, they heard meowing from underneath their vehicle.

The pair searched again but could not find the kitten. They drove to Fire Station 30 on Burnt Church Road for help.

Firefighters searched the car but could not reach the kitten, which was wedged deeply underneath. They contacted the Fire District maintenance shop.

Senior Mechanic Tyler Williams responded and crawled under the car, found the trapped kitten and used tools to free the animal. The rescue took about 10 minutes.

The kitten, now named “Flash,” is recovering at the Beaufort County Animal Shelter. The animal is gaining weight and preparing for adoption or fostering.
