Publix files permit for store at Savannah’s Eastern Wharf
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Publix Supermarkets filed a building permit application with the city on Feb. 26 to construct a new store in Savannah’s Eastern Wharf.
The proposed project titled “Eastern Wharf Grocery,” is part of a larger Eastern Wharf Planned Unit. Documents show the project site is a 2.21-acre tract and will consist of the construction of a 36,374 square foot elevated grocery store. The project includes associated sidewalks, access drives, parking, landscaping and utilities.
According to project details, Riverworks Way will be extended and dedicated as a public road.
The location, strategically positioned near hotels, apartments and commercial retail space would provide a grocery option for those in the area.
