Port Wentworth celebrates 53rd Stand Up for America Day with parade, festival and fireworks
PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Port Wentworth will host its 53rd annual Stand Up for America Day Parade and Festival on April 25, honoring veterans with a full day of community events, live entertainment and fireworks.
This year’s celebration expands beyond the parade and festival, adding a pageant on April 11 and a first-ever gala on April 22. The April 25 event will begin with a parade from 10 a.m. to noon at the U.S. Sugar Refinery on Oxnard Drive, followed by festival activities and a 6 p.m. performance by Edwin McCain.
Port Wentworth first held Stand Up for America Day in 1972 to honor soldiers returning from the Vietnam War. The event has since grown into a longtime community tradition celebrating veterans and military service.
