COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina’s recently changed license plates are causing a stir on social media, and WIS wants to know what you think of the change.
The new plate, approved by state lawmakers last spring, features the Moultrie flag along with the phrase “Where the Revolutionary War Was Won,” a reference to Sgt. William Jasper’s flag-raising during the 1776 Battle of Fort Sullivan.
State lawmakers approved the change last spring, with the design being fully rolled out as the state’s standard license plate in January.
The plates have since been met with a mixed reaction online, with some even returning them to the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.

A WIS poll conducted Tuesday showed that, out of nearly 5,200 responses, around 84% said they did not like the new plate design.
