Police arrest suspects in October Statesboro fatal shooting

STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE: 10:49 AM] The second suspect connected to a fatal shooting in Statesboro in October has been arrested.

Police say Khalir Nickens was located and taken into custody by the Statesboro Police Department. Nickens and Timothy Odell Ward are accused of shooting and killing Deontre Mincey.

Nickens is charged with murder and aggravated assault. Bond has not been set.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Police have arrested one of two men accused of shooting and killing Deontre Mincey in October.

Police captured Timothy Odell Ward Thursday night. He faces charges of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated assault party to a crime and terroristic threats and acts.

Police are still actively searching for Khalir Nickens in connection with Mincey’s death.
