[UPDATE 11:24 a.m. 10/28/25] The Chatham County Police Department released more details after a homicide Monday night.
Police said they found a 59-year-old woman dead inside an apartment in the 100 block of Oyster Shell Road. The woman appears to have been stabbed to death, police say.
Police identified the victim’s son 37-year-old Addison Martinez, as the person of interest in this case. He was believed to be driving his mother’s vehicle, which was found abandoned in a commercial parking lot in Pooler.
Concerned that another family member could be in danger, Chatham County Police Department officers and the Savannah Police Department SWAT Team conducted an operation in the Highlands area.
Police said the family member is safe.
Law enforcement is still looking for Martinez. “This is a very active search and investigation,” wrote the Chatham County Police Department in a release.
The police department said they still need to conduct an autopsy to confirm cause of death.
