Person found with serious head injury near Shabazz Seafood on Victory Drive

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Police are investigating after a person was found with a serious head injury near Shabazz Seafood on Victory Drive.

According to Savannah Police, the cause of the injury is still unknown. Investigators say there is currently no evidence of a shooting.

The injured person was transported to the hospital, police confirmed.

A neighbor said their partner saw police giving CPR to someone but did not hear or see anything else leading up to that point.

WTOC crews on scene saw caution tape stretching several blocks from West 39th Street to West 44th Street, along with what appeared to be a blood trail across the area.

SPD officers were documenting the scene, taking photos and video. SFD crews were also on scene, power-washing and bleaching the sidewalk to remove blood evidence.

Investigators on scene said Shabazz Restaurant had just closed and staff were cleaning up when the incident happened nearby.
