One person loses home in Tuesday afternoon Shoals Drive fire

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - One person lost their home in a house fire Tuesday afternoon on Shoals Drive, according to the Chatham County Fire Department.

In a social media post, the CCFD says crews were called to the 100 block of Shoals Drive at 1:01 p.m. on January 20, 2026, for reports of a house fire. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the back of the home and immediately began fighting the blaze.

Multiple fire units responded to the scene, including engines, a ladder truck, and a squad unit. The fire department has not released details about the extent of damage or what caused the fire.

One resident will need temporary housing due to damage from the fire. The Red Cross has been contacted to assist the displaced person with emergency shelter and other needs.
