One dead, one hospitalized in Richmond Hill house fire, officials confirm

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WTOC) -One person is dead and another is in the hospital following a house fire Monday night on Rushing Street, officials confirm.

The Richmond Hill Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on Rushing Street at approximately 9:41 p.m.

Crews encountered active fire upon arrival and immediately began suppression operations.

One resident was located inside the home and did not survive. A second resident was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Richmond Hill Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The name of the deceased will not be released until next of kin has been notified.

The City of Richmond Hill says they extended their condolences to all those affected.
