One Savannah road to close for a month due to drainage improvements

by Christopher Teuton

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - One Savannah road will be closed for nearly a month starting next Monday, according to a press release WTOC just received.

The release says that, as part of the City’s ongoing efforts to improve drainage within the Dundee Canal Drainage Basin, the City of Savannah will implement a temporary road closure beginning Monday, December 15, 2025, on Louisville Road between Telfair Street and Fair Street.

This work is a key component of the City’s 100-year conveyance master plan, which the release says aims to reduce flooding risks. As part of the project, crews will install a double-barrel 3-by-4-foot box culvert to expand drainage capacity and provide meaningful upstream relief north of Louisville Road.

Drivers and residents are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time during the construction period, which is expected to last approximately 30 days.

Additional updates may be provided throughout the duration of the project.
