Officials: 9 students injured after school bus collides with gas tanker in Lee County

BISHOPVILLE, S.C. (WIS) - A school bus in Bishopville collided with a gas tanker truck Thursday afternoon, according to Lee County Sheriff Daniel Simon.

The collision occurred on Thursday afternoon at 1340 Sumter Highway in front of the Pilot gas station. The South Carolina Highway Patrol said 33 students were on the bus, with nine being taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Simon also told WIS the tanker truck was not loaded with gas at the time of the crash.
