Novant Health to transform former Modern Classic Motors site into new healthcare facility

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (WTOC) - The Town of Hilton Head Island selected Novant Health to redevelop the former Modern Classic Motors property into a new medical facility building.

The new facility is set to bring expanded access to health care services to the Island. Earlier this month, Town Council members approved a resolution to sell the property for $4.34 million.

“Novant Health is honored to work with the Town of Hilton Head Island to bring this project to life,” said Joel Taylor, Novant Health president of the Hilton Head area. “This facility will expand access to high-quality, convenient care for Hilton Head Island, central to Novant Health’s commitment to investing in our residents, our workforce and our quality of life.”

According to Town of Hilton Head Island the facility will include:

• A 25,000-square-foot medical office building with surface parking designed to host a range of potential services including urgent care, primary care, physical therapy and urology.
• Future expansion space for an additional 15,000 square feet of medical offices to meet the community’s growing needs.
• An estimated $25.3 million investment, including land acquisition, construction, equipment and technology.
• Approximately 50 new jobs in Hilton Head Island.

This move is aimed towards expanding healthcare access, creating local jobs and strengthening the long-term economic vitality on the island.

“The Town purchased this land years ago as part of its land acquisition program, which is intended to prevent development and redevelopment that doesn’t align with the Island’s character or what it needs to sustain our local workforce and our high quality of life,” said Town Manager Marc Orlando. “It’s been a pleasure working with the Novant team to reach this important moment for our community.”
