Newborn surrendered safely under Daniel’s Law to hospital in Greenville County

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The South Carolina Department of Social Services reports Prisma Health - Greenville Memorial Hospital accepted an infant that was surrendered on Tuesday.

A baby girl, born on Sept. 3, weighing 4 pounds, 9.4 ounces and measured at 17.3 inches long at the time of birth, was surrendered under Daniel’s Law, the state’s Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act, before the Greenville County Department of Social Services took custody of her, officials said.

Officials said a medical evaluation was completed before the infant was placed in a licensed foster home.

A Permanency Planning Hearing and Termination of Parental Rights Hearing will be held on Oct. 28, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the Greenville County Family Court and anyone who believes they have parental rights to this child are required to attend the hearing to assert those rights.
