New details: Prosecutors recommend sentence for alleged Wilmington Island arsonist
CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - This week, we’re learning that Chatham County prosecutors have made a recommendation for the sentencing of the alleged Wilmington Island arsonist.
At the end of 2024 and into the start of 2025, a teenager was accused of setting five homes on fire on Wilmington Island and damaging property.
Now 18-year-old Nicholes Holbrook is facing 4 counts of arson and 1 count of criminal damage to property.
These fires happened between late November of last year through this past January.

In our previous reporting, we confirmed that Holbrook lives on Wilmington Island and attended Islands High School.
In a new update, the state’s recommendation of his sentencing is 5 years in prison, and 20-25 years on probation...
And no contact with any of those homeowners...
The state’s recommendation is that he continue counseling for mental health, substance abuse, cognitive skills training, and educational training.
The state also recommended he stay away from drugs and alcohol and maintain a steady job... And possess no weapons of any kind.

His attorney confirmed Nicholes has been in inpatient treatment for the last 5 months, and will be there 7 more months.
She’s asking that the state take into serious consideration all the progress he has made so far.
His attorney plans to propose a different offer *back to the state..
And says Nicholes has accepted full responsibility for his conduct....

No details just yet on what their negotiated offer will be. She did say his progress is being closely monitored, and his mental health is improving.
His official sentencing is set for September right now but that could change.
