New Glen Powell film ‘Comeback King’ hiring extras in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A new film starring Glen Powell and directed by Judd Apatow is ramping up production in southeast Georgia, and casting directors are now looking for local extras and stand-ins.

The project, titled “Comeback King,” is currently filming in the Savannah, Claxton and Macon areas. Powell is set to star in the film, marking a high-profile production for the region as Georgia continues to attract major film projects.

Casting company Catrett Casting & Associates announced multiple opportunities for background actors of various ages and experience levels, including roles for children, drivers with vehicles and stand-ins.

Among the openings, casting directors are seeking: adults ages 18 and older with pickup trucks, SUVs or cars to appear on camera with their vehicles. Filming for those roles is scheduled for April 30 and May 1 in Claxton, with pay listed at $182 for 12 hours, plus a $35 vehicle bump.

Two separate casting calls are also underway for children. Producers are looking for kids ages 6 to 17 of all ethnicities to portray attendees at a charity event. Filming is set for April 20 and April 21 in Savannah, with a pay rate of $120 for eight hours.

Additionally, stand-in roles are being cast for experienced actors. One role calls for a Greek male between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-9, with filming scheduled between May 7 and June 17 in Savannah and Macon. Another seeks an Asian male of similar height for multiple filming dates between April and June across both cities. Stand-ins will be paid $196 for 12 hours per day.

Applicants must complete role-specific forms and register with the casting company’s database if they are new. Casting directors noted that both steps are required for consideration.

Georgia has become one of the nation’s busiest filming hubs in recent years, with productions frequently turning to local residents for background roles.
